Okay, so ive been thinking of a way to share what ive been upto, not that what im doing day to day is anything crazy or anything, but it seems better to just have this as an opt-in?
or maybe it removes that intimate one on one exchange of stories. idk.
DFTW
We got introduced to affinity designer, super cool stuff. always have seen videos of cool graphic designers (woo) making stuff like logos and art and wtv else. and now im learning to use it.
been thinking i could maybe use this to make art for print-on-demand products. idk if im creative enough to make something from scratch that would appeal to people though. though i think ill still try. but when i think of making something for that purpose its like OMG WTF DO I MAKE< IDK SHITTT>

people be crazy for being able to make stuff like this T.T
Climate
Im truly tired of the climate here. the hot and cold flip flopping is killlling me. Like a snow storm comes to ruin my weekend. *breathe* tis the weather.
Im HOPING after it gets warmer, that im able to convince myself to go to a stargazing/lowlight pollution area. I miss the Sky, and the cosmos. I want to see stars in the sky. Living in the city you forget that they are still just there, waiting for me to look at them. and i want to take my kid sister to see it too, try being a good brother for once in my life. (though grand gestures aint it chief, you gotta be consistent)
the reason i need convincing is cause its a 3 hour drive and ugh.
excited to go to Kashmir this year, finally after 6 years. see the night sky there too. see my family!
Internet
In youtube world ive been binging Brittany simon’s podcast/channel, and she’s great.
Im finding her and her philosophy to be incredibly insightful. I know im gaining a lot of wisdom listening to her and chewing on her ideas. She talks about introspection, sex, kink, philosophy, psychology, family, personhood, anime, culture.
TV
Mrs Maisel Season 4 Finale.
what a spectacular finale, i love this show. Everyday i am grateful to the BJ that decided to watch this.
i could watch these crazy zany characters just go about their regular day and id be satisfied. Ive had big family moments and boy does this fill that.
Lenny bruce is amazing, his relationship with Midge is amazing. its one of those, where you meet someone in your lifetime and have a highly chemical bond with. its platonic, its romantic, coworkers, its beyond those words. on so many layers, and sex was just one manifestation of that.
I love her Family, I love Moishe and Abe. I love Shirley. AHHHH.

Movie
I watched the Batman, and this is the last section im putting in so im exausted. it was a visual feast. the visual direction was amazing. the camera choices inspired. the framing.
It wasnt a superhero movie as much as a detective movie. which yay!
I love though, how this movie explores Gotham, Batman and Bruce wayne. How Bruce Wayne not existing, as he traditionally is, affects the city, affects him and affects batman.
its interesting, in that it showcases how this Myth figure needs to be both, Bruce and Bats. and how both those sides of him are needed for gotham to function.
ive always considered superheroes to be modern myths that define our culture, like Hercules and Poseidon. we explore these characters through so many lenses.
Bruce/Batman himself is an emergent figure of a city. an urban city that itself is a capitalist metaorganism, and bruce himself is a product of the system. gotham itself is this myth figure for cities.
his parents killed by someone who the system fucked over, his parents who the system helped and is the reason why this orphan child was able to continue living. why he was able to turn into the batman.
I think my thoughts here need some more working on. but the linking of bruce, batman, cities, and capitalism is something i find fascinating. i wonder is the Sapiens book will give me more tools to work on this with.

Gaming
I finalllly managed to get myself to start playing gaames again after getting my new monitor.
Ive been playing Elden ring. and its so big, so vast. idk if i can get myself to play it more. open world games need you to have the ability to be present, and immersed in the world. but these souls-like games have always been hard for me to get into, i dont mind the difficulty, ive played KH2 on critical but its the emptiness and the inherent clunky-grounded combat that doesnt do it for me!
Guardian of the Galaxy: Started this after getting frustated by ER, and i loovve it. its literally exactly what i need. smashing cool, combat with strong narrative and strong characters. i FUCKING LOVE BANTER. i hate that theres so many gamers going “they talk too much” stfu guys, please more games with constant banter so i dont feel alone..

Books
Slot 1(NonFic)
I finally got myself to drop “Just Enough Research” (sorry Derek) but i was slogging through it, it was boring as hell, even with the down to earth writing.

That was replaced by Sapiens, which is one ive been looking forward to read for quiet a while now. and its just great. im thoroughly enjoying it. And i must say, i yearn to go back to them hunter gatherer days.

Slot 2(NonFic)
So my goal with my reading is to read 10-20 pgs of each of the books in my four slots. and in this one lies, The Art of Living. Now i say that, because i find this book facinating and dense as hell in its wisdom. its probably one of those you carry around and refer back to it.
theres 70ish pages, and im like half way through after two weeks. I read a section or two, and those lead me into deep reflection for the rest of the day.

Slot 3(Short Fic)
Im currently reading Exhalations and other stories by Ted Chiang.
and boy oh boy do i fucking love this.
im coming from his previous collection Stories of your lives and others.
The narrative of the first story, The Merchant and the Alchemist's Gate, Was beyond amazing. i was listening to this in my car while doing deliveries and it was entirely gripping and the way it ends was incredibly satisfying.
its has this Arabian nights aesthetic and vibe. and the narrative’s structure itself is also reminiscent of that.

Slot 4
So here i was reading, The Shadow Rising, but sorry boo. I’ve dropped you for Harry Potter.
Wheel of time is great, i wish i could get myself to keep reading it, but theres so much stuff that i care about but also it cant hold my attention. I enjoy the writing of the books. FAAAARR better than the lame show(which completely loses the narrative point of the books and turns it into generic tv but wtv).
I want my Aei Sedai Politicking, gimme more of thaaaat. also Nyneave!!

Slot 5
This is the new Comic slot. been reading Robin/Batgirl: Year one. the art direction is amazing.
I just been itching to get into Batfam, so thats probably next.

I Think thats enough. my first go at this. Im still thinking about how deep i should go with my thoughts on each of the things.
I wanted to have a section for my insights but, im not able to remember any atm. oh well.
But youll notice theres a lot of stories here. That is in fact my joy. I love love love stories, i think its a fundamental part of the human experience. The mind has evolved to weave our perceptions into a narrative, the past going into the future. the self/Ego is the narrative gravity of our experiences.
Stories is how information is transferred, its literally the reason we human became so successful, because we were able to transfer knowledge across time through storytelling, tales of heroes and gods. tales of the average life.
maybe ill write a story one day lol.
